Todd Roach (USA)
Todd Roach is a performer, teacher and producer living in Vermont, USA.
He has studied the world of Middle Eastern and North African percussion instruments since 1989. His teachers have included master drummers Vince Delgado and Glen Velez.
As a multi-percussionist, Todd has had the opportunity to perform many styles of music with a diverse group of artists. In recent years, he has been appearing with the Paul Winter Consort. He has also performed with Lebanese violinist Georges Lammam, Gospel singer Theresa Thomason, Flamenco musicians Carlos Denia and Tino van der Sman, Jazz pianist Eugene Uman, South Indian vocalist K.S. Resmi, cellist Eugene Friesen, and world percussionists N. Scott Robinson and Shane Shanahan.
Some of his other highlights include multiple workshops and performances at Tamburi Mundi, in Freiburg, Germany, and for the North American Frame Drum Association in Vermont, New Jersey, Toronto and St. Louis. Todd has also composed and performed for theater productions with the Vermont Theatre Company, the New England Youth Theater and the Sandglass Theater.
Todd is an artist endorser and representative for the Cooperman Drum Company, based in Saxtons River, Vermont. In June, 2010, Cooperman released the new Todd Roach Hybrid Tambourine as a part of their Artist Innovation Series of instruments. He has also released three recordings with New England based ensembles: Crossing Painted Islands (2006) with 35th Parallel, Strange But True (2009) with the As Yet Quintet, and Step Into The Mix (2016) with Dunham Shoe Factory.
Roach is an educator that has taught percussion-based residencies and clinics in schools and festivals in the U.S., Canada, South America and Europe. Todd is active in his local community as well, serving as the founder and co-director of two education programs in Brattleboro, the Kindle Farm School Music and Arts Program and The Loft Youth Percussion Ensemble.
